Trains
The
Republic Of Ireland's railway network is run by the Irish Rail and is
state-controlled. The Irish Rail operates a satisfactory service to most
of the large cities and towns. Going by rail is probably the fastest was
to travel from Dublin to places like Waterford, Cork, Limerick and Galway.
The two main stations in Dublin for InterCity trains are Connolly and
Heuston. All trains in the Republic have standard and super-standard (first-class)
compartments. The rail timetables are available from most InterCity stations
at a cost of 50p.
The handy electric
rail service known as DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) serves 25 stations
between Howth, County Dublin, Bray & County Wicklow, with several
stops in the Dublin city centre. Tickets can be purchased at any of the
DART stations
